Flower World

So I went to a Stampin Up gathering/club on Friday. I know, I know you are thinking "She is fraternizing with the enemy!" but like I said before, I am not a CTMH whore. Yes I do love CTMH and I really do prefer it over any other company but Stampin Up had a stamp that I just had to have! I will post pic's after I get the stamp!

So we made 3 wonderful cards that night. I do like the punches Stampin Up has but you know what...I do prefer acrylic stamps. I had to do some double stamping on one of the projects and you know, it is just a bit more difficult when you cannot see the first stamped image.

Anyway, the one card we made was a lot of fun and I reproduced it today. For the flowers I used my Cricut and used 3 different shades of CTMH paper - two were the textured card stock. For the tag I used Tender Tags which is the June stamp of the month. I used a technique called Rock & Roll. Basically you stamp an image on a scrap piece of paper one, then a second time without reinking it. Then you just roll the edges of that stamp on the stamp pad - kind of rocking and rolling it around. Then you stamp it over the second image you had. So you have the lighter color with a darker border. If you want to learn more about this technique you can check out the Art & Soul webisodes on my website.

Anyway, here is a pic of the flower pot card I reproduced! As you can see, you can pull the flowers up for a card sentiment!

Steph, You asked about my paper piecing on the baby card. I take my time on cutting out my pieces. Trying to concentrate on breathing while I am cutting. I know that sounds crazy, but I find I hold my breath a lot. Then I use a tiny paint brush and Aleen's quick dry tacky glue and paint my paper pieces and then try to get them on and in place before they stick. Sometimes I get them right on and others like this time the skirt is just the tiniest bit off. Not enough to scrap it and start over again.
The color marker I use for flesh tone is Vanilla Cream.
While I am here I wanted you to know I think your flower pot card is precious. I saw it the other day and was so impressed with the real live flower and have been envying you ever since. I even started looking in the stores to see if I could find a pretty little African Violet like yours.
